Leapfrog, a brand well known for its educational entertainment content, has come up with an educational tablet with the collaboration with a toy brand called My Baby Excels, to launch the LeapPad 2 tablet. This is a tablet device specifically made for the kids and learning, as they earlier had come up with the LeapPad Explorer tablet, the first gen one. Aiming the kids of ages between 3 and 9 years, this tablet will have loads of educational content and that includes extensive library of learning games, eBooks, videos, music and a lot more.
One cannot call this a tablet device because of the 5-inch screen size, but it doesn’t have any connectivity option included, making it just an entertainment education tablet for kids. It’s the 5-inch touchscreen that comes with the stylus. There are two cameras included, one on the front and one on back with the video recording possible, while the apps included are the eReader app, music player etc. There’s an LF 2000 processor included and there are around 9 apps which are available already on the tablet, which include Photo Lab, Art Studio, Pet Pad, LeapFrog Learning Songs. The education library from LeapFrog has got all the educator-approved content having 800+ games, videos, eBooks and more.
The LeapPad 2 comes with the 4GB of internal storage, and it’s compatible with LeapFrog Explorer cartridges and apps (sold separately) and LeapFrog LeapPad 2 accessories (sold separately). The tablet is said to provide around 9 hours of play time on a single full charge. The usage cannot be limited to just this because there are a lot of extra games, eBooks and accessories that can be purchased separately and downloaded from the LeapFrog App Store, which has over 125 titles. Learn to Read Collection of Ultra eBooks features 300 keywords for early readers to help build phonics and decoding skills, sight word recognition and reading comprehension.
The LeapPad 2 tablet for kids is priced at Rs. 11999, and it is available in two colors – Green and Pink. It would be available online on the various eCommerce stores, but apart from these, you can find them even on the different offline stores such as Hamley’s, Landmark, Mahindra Retail, Lifestyle. The 5-inch screen size looks quite decent for the kids to use with the stylus and learn their writing skills along with the reading and learning part.
