How to Upgrade to iOS 7

First of all, for any update you need to backup your device casino as it”s risky and your data can be deleted anytime. Take a backup by connecting your device to iTunes and let the software do its part. This being the GM version which is almost the official version itself, you won”t be seeing any issues but why to ignore the risks.

Once you have downloaded the iOS 7 IPSW file and the iTunes 11.1 Beta version from the above given links, connect the device to the computer using the USB cable, and then open the new installed iTunes 11.1 beta.

  • It”s a disk image file so you need to extract it and then find the IPSW file which is the actual iOS 7 file which you are trying to upgrade. Drag it to the desktop or any folder which would be easier to navigate later on.
  • Open iTunes after connecting the device. You will be able to see the device detected, and if not, go to the Summary tab where you can locate the device.
  • Press and hold the option key (OS X) or the shift key (Windows) and then click on “Restore” so that you can select the IPSW file.
  • Once the file is selected, the iTunes would start the update and you don”t need to do anything else from there.
